About Dick Cole (1915–2019):

• The raid was a daring and morale-boosting mission, proving Japan’s vulnerability and marking a turning point early in WWII.

• After the raid, Cole continued to serve with distinction in the China-Burma-India Theater, flying dangerous supply missions over the Himalayas (“The Hump”).

• Retired as a Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Air Force.

• Passed away on April 9, 2019, at the age of 103 — he was the last surviving member of the Doolittle Raiders.
